How to Get Started

What do you need to start up your web site design process-
A Domain Name (e.g.
www.nameyouchooseforyoursite.com): It is the unique name (maybe based
on yours or your organization's name) that represents the address that
people will type into their browser to access your web site. For example our
domain name is
simplesites.paperfollies.com.
- A
Hosting Service: It is the service that provides
you space on a online server where your site content will be uploaded to so
that the entire world can access it.
- Site
Contents: It is the information about you and/or
your company that will be posted on your web site. Contents include
electronic text files (descriptive documents) and any electronic graphics
files i.e. photographs, clip arts, logos, etc. that can be placed in
one or multiple pages depending on size or quantity. You MUST provide us
with most of the
relevant text
main content as you are the one who knows best what your website and the
services or products it offered is about. If you only have a hard
copy of your contents (i.e. every thing is on paper instead of computer
files), we recommend that you get in scanned. Alternatively we can scan your
documents for you for an extra fee.
You can choose to get both your domain name and hosting services from the
same provider. Or you can register your domain with one company and get
hosting space from another. If you already have any of the 3 above, you are
only a few step away to get started on your web design. If not, no problems.
We can help you with selecting your domain name and suggest hosting
services* (see disclaimer below), and with organizing your
web site structure and your
web site content.
*Disclaimer: We are not a hosting company therefore we do
not provide domain name or web space spaces/hosting services. You
can get such services from many domain/hosting providers. When you
contract with us for a web design project, we can recommend names of
domain/hosting providers if you do not have one yet. Be aware though
that we are not affiliated with any provider, even those we may
recommend. Those recommendations are based on industry reports about
overall customer satisfaction with these companies. However, keep in
mind that every one's experience with any company may vary.
