How long does it take for you to complete a web design order?

Turn around time for completion of any website project will depend on the size of the website, readiness of your content (very important as you must provided us the main content), amount of work to be done in terms of application installation and testing, and on our current work load. Once you contract us for your website design, and we know more about the type and amount work required, we'll be able to provide you with a more specific estimate of completion time.

Why should I have to provide you content for the website? Aren't you supposed to provide that?

Simple answer. Because it's your website, your organization and you know best about it than any one else. If you want your organization or any activity you lead to be successful, you must plan and research for it carefully and ultimately be able to present the information gathered.  This effort should be extended to your website too. As your web design team, we will work with you in organizing your content, reword it to incorporate popular keywords in it to make it search engine friendly. We can make recommendation on format,  3rd party applications to use, or ways to promote your website online. But we can not write your entire content from scratch for you.

What's with this "no bells, no whistles, simple sites" approach?  Shouldn't you just design what the client wants?

Our motto is about creating simple, straight forward sites because in our experience, we have seen over and over that bells and whistles is not what make a site's success but rather it's content.  The most successful sites we have seen (in terms of page rank and hits) are quite simple in design but rich in content. In addition, fancy add-ons such as pop-ups, flash animations, special color effects, fancy rotating banners, background or music, etc. add to the coding work and time (hence to the fees) required to design a website. They can also slow down the time a site takes to load. Aesthetics can never be a substitute for content. That's is why our philosophy is to work on the latter and keep the former simple.

I want to order more than the 5 basic pages but I do NOT  know how many pages I should ask for

If you don't know how many pages you need, we will work with you to help you organizing your content. A website with pages crammed with too much text and/or image content may be overwhelming for visitors and it's not the best design approach. On the other end, a website with many pages with sparse or little content in each is not a good approach either. The key is to categorize your website so that all relevant content is readily and clearly accessible to your site visitors. Our ordering process is flexible and additional pages and options can always be added later.

Why do you have one option to order additional sets of 5-pages and another option to order additional individual page?

The individual additional page option is given to provide you with more flexibility with your required number of additional pages. Although the 5-pages set offers a discounted price per page, one may not need to pay for 5 additional pages if only 1 or 2 are needed.

Why do my website looks slightly different in some browsers?

Web browsers are created by different programming teams  so may render/display website a bit differently. In our website design codes, we use strict adherence to World Wide Consortium's (W3C) established standards. While web browsers may be programmed differently, all strive to incorporate the W3C's standards into their coding. By adhering to the W3C's standard, we ensure that all our websites will have a similar appearance and functionality across browsers even though minute differences may occur.

I want a backup copy of my website files on a disc, how can I get one?

When you order your design package, make sure to select the option "Site Backup on Disc" in the order form. We only ask $2 for this option which is to cover shipping and handling of this backup CD. Once your website is complete, we will also provide you instructions on how to access/download it's content directly online. So even if you don't ask for a backup CD, you still have ways to download and keep a backup of your website.

I did not purchase a site maintenance /update contract, what if I want to make changes to my site later?

If you want to add additional pages to the your site's current page counts, then it would be an "a la carte" type of request.  Please submit your request via the "Epsilon Order Form" and indicate how many additional pages you need. If your request is not about adding new pages but about changing content in existing pages, please indicate the number of pages needing update and put an explanation in the description box about the specific update needed. Based on the amount of work to be done, we will apply a reduced page fee for the update. Very minor updates (like small typo fixing, or small text removal or correction) may actually be done for free. However, if more than 5 pages need to be changed, or if your request implies change of appearance (graphic, color, etc.) however we reserve the right to require payment at the reduced page fee.

I want to order a French version of my site but how do I check how many words the pages to be translated have?

Use our handy word count form right here. Follow the instructions on how to use the form. If you have over 500 words, price per translation will be adjusted using a pro-rated formula.

 What software do you use for your French translation?

While we may use electronic dictionaries to check for spelling or meaning of special terms, all translations are made by humans This is because no automated software can give true quality translation as no software program can accurately factor in cultural, and idiomatic context. There are online tools or services that can translate web site contents on the fly and for free. But those translation are literal or raw translation at best and their quality is often sup par. While they may provide a general idea of what the page is about, it may give a bad impression with site visitors of foreign origin especially if you are trying to sell products or services in your website.  It will suggest that you were not willing to spend time or resources to translate your page with proper care and grammar.

How will you help bring traffic into my web site especially from the major search engines?

First, be aware that traffic will not build in one day. Second, Search Engine Optimization (or SEO) is a different field of web services in itself. It's part of web marketing and often involves thorough research of  keywords trends within the type of industry a website is part of. Web marketing is also often offered separately from the basic web design. However, your web site can be designed and worded to make it more SEO friendly (e.g. to help major search engines index and find it faster) from the start.

In the design of your web site, we will research keywords used by the popular search engines and incorporate them in your site text content. Once your site is completed, we will manually submit it to the major search engines. Another online method to bring traffic is to exchange links with other organization doing similar work or of similar affiliation or interest.  If you already know of such organizations, let us know and we will add them to your links/resources section and contact them to request them to list your site in theirs as well. Alternatively, we can help identify organizations to exchange links with.

However, you must also not forget to promote your site off the internet. You are the best marketing promotion tool for your site and personal networking can bring the best of traffic.

I have ordered paper stationery along with my site design. How can I reorder them if I need a new supply?

Stationery orders will be processed through our master site, www.paperfollies.com. Reorder instructions will be provided once we shipped you your customized stationery.
